1927-28 Composite 2/6, The Unique "Foley" Block: Top left corner block of 10 consisting of 8 stamps with wide dates above 2 stamps with narrow dates. The repetition of minor varieties on rows 1 and 2, and again on rows 3 and 4, clearly proves that the overprint was carried out in two operations, as opposed to the single plate used for the "abnormal 1" setting. This leads to the logical conclusion that this was a 20-clichée plate, but with a "narrow" substituting for the usual "wide" at R.5/1, pre or post the "normal setting" cannot be determined. Four stamps are hinged, lower left stamp has a corner crease, numerous spots of gum toning. However, this unique block represents the only known example demonstrating this arrangement of wide and narrow dates. Illustrated on page 245 of the 2020 Hibernian. SG 83av var., Mi. 37IVs var., Hib.
